About Mike Colle
Mike Colle immigrated to Canada from his native Italy at the age of five and grew up in Downtown Toronto’s College Street area. Mike Colle went on to serve the people of Eglinton-Lawrence as a municipal councillor and local MPP for three decades.
As MPP for Eglinton-Lawrence, Mike spearheaded campaigns to save historic heritage sites like, the Eglinton Theatre, Postal Station K and the Columbus Centre. As a former Metro Councillor and TTC chair, Mike lead the charge to build the Eglinton Subway and fought to get it funded and restarted as the Eglinton Crosstown which is presently under construction.
Prior to being elected MPP in 1995, Mike served as a councillor for the City of York and Metropolitan Toronto, where he served in roles as TTC commissioner, TTC Chair from 1988 to 1994. Prior to public service, Mike taught history and economics at Michael Power High school and St. Michael’s college School, where he coached football for 18 years.
